Zymar Ophthalmic Drops

If you have a bacterial eye infection called conjunctivitis -- more commonly known as "pink eye" -- your healthcare provider may recommend Zymar® (gatifloxacin), an antibiotic. As an ophthalmic drop (eye drop), Zymar is used between four and eight times a day for a total of seven days.

To get the most out of each dosage, there are some guidelines to keep in mind. For example:

  • Make sure you wash your hands thoroughly before and after using Zymar. This helps prevent the spread of the infection.

  • It is important to keep the bottle free from contamination to help prevent further infection. Do not allow the applicator tip to touch any surface, including your fingers or eyes.

  • Use Zymar in the eyes only. Do not apply it to your skin or take it by mouth.
