Zymar
® (
gatifloxacin) is an antibiotic eye drop used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis, commonly called "
pink eye." It belongs to a group of drugs called fluoroquinolones, or "quinolones" for short. There is only one form and strength of this medication: a 0.3% solution. Zymar is currently sold as a brand-name drug only, but it's possible that a generic version will become available in the future.
In most cases, the standard dosage is one drop in the infected eye every two hours while awake (up to eight times a day) for two days, and then one drop up to four times a day while awake for five more days. However, certain factors will affect the specific amount your healthcare provider recommends.
