Tobradex Side Effects

Serious Tobradex Side Effects

There are a few potential side effects of this medicine that may be serious. Make sure to report any of the following potentially serious Tobradex side effects to your healthcare provider:

  • Slow healing of the eye wound
  • A secondary infection (in addition to the condition or infection being treated with Tobradex), often a fungal infection
  • Cataracts
  • Severe itching, swelling, or redness (which may indicate an allergic reaction)
  • Vision changes (other than temporary blurring caused by the ointment).

Tobradex may cause increased pressure in the eye, leading to glaucoma. Since such problems often cause no symptoms, your healthcare provider should monitor the pressure within your eye, especially if you use this medication for a long period of time (longer than just a few days).

Final Thoughts

You may experience some or none of the Tobradex side effects listed in this article. Unfortunately, there is no way for your healthcare provider to know beforehand if you will have problems with a medicine that you have never tried.

Therefore, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you develop any side effects while using Tobradex or if you develop something that "just does not seem right." While it may not be related to Tobradex use, your healthcare provider will be able to diagnose and treat the problem.
