Timolol (Betimol®, Blocadren®, Istalol®, Timoptic®) is a prescription medication used to treat a variety of medical conditions. Specifically, the tablets are used to treat high blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart attacks and death in heart attack survivors, and prevent migraine headaches. There are also eyedrops, which are used to treat high eye pressure or glaucoma.
 
Although most people tolerate timolol well, this medication can cause side effects, such as a slow heart rate, nausea, and blurred vision. Because it is not suitable for everyone, people should tell their healthcare provider about all medical conditions they have and all other medications they are taking before beginning treatment.
