Depending on your individual situation, a complication may be minor, meaning that it is temporary and often easily treated by your healthcare provider. In more rare cases, a major complication may occur. This may require a repeat surgery or may lead to overall poor vision quality including astigmatism, blurry vision, glare, halos, starbursts or double vision, or, in extreme cases, a corneal transplant or permanent loss of vision.

It may be that in your doctor's practice, none of these complications have happened - or have occurred very rarely. However, it is important for you to know and understand the possible complications, so that you are fully informed before your procedure. It is also important to realize that even in the best surgical hands, complications do occur.
