Ozurdex Drug Eye Implant

Ozurdex® (dexamethasone intravitreal implant) is a prescription eye implant used to treat certain eye conditions that cause swelling in the middle and back of the eye. The medication belongs to a group of inflammation-reducing drugs called corticosteroids ("steroids" for short).
 
This drug comes in the form of an implant (injection), which will be administered by a healthcare provider. Ozurdex dissolves in the eye and does not need to be removed. Although generally well tolerated, side effects are possible and may include:
 
  • Bleeding of the eye
  • Eye redness
  • Eye pain.
