Ocupress Drug Interactions

Ocupress can interfere with a number of other medications. For example, interactions may occur if you use the eye drop while taking reserpine, methacholine, or other beta blocker medicines. These drug interactions with Ocupress could lead to severe, asthma-like breathing problems and various other potentially serious side effects.

Drug Interactions With Ocupress

Ocupress® (carteolol hydrochloride) can potentially interact with several other medications. Some of these medicines that may lead to interactions with Ocupress include:
 
  • Methacholine (Provocholine®)
  • Other beta blockers, including (but not limited to):

 

 

  • Reserpine.

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Ocupress is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
 
Methacholine
It is very dangerous to combine methacholine with a beta blocker (such as Ocupress). Doing so could cause severe, asthma-like breathing problems that are not easily corrected. These medications should not be combined.
