Moxeza and Breastfeeding

No studies have been done Moxeza and breastfeeding, so it's unknown if the drug passes through breast milk. Because it is an eye drop and very little medicine actually reaches the bloodstream, it is unlikely that Moxeza would be passed through breast milk in high enough amounts to cause problems. However, it is best to discuss the issue with your healthcare provider prior to treatment.

More Information on Breastfeeding and Moxeza

No research has been done to see if Moxeza passes through breast milk in humans. However, this is an eye drop, and very little of the medication is expected to reach the bloodstream. Therefore, it is unlikely that a significant amount of the drug would reach the breast milk or the nursing infant.

However, because Moxeza has never been studied in breastfeeding women, all potential problems cannot yet be ruled out. If your healthcare provider recommends using this eye drop while breastfeeding, make sure to watch for any side effects in your child, such as drowsiness or irritability.

Mothers may be reassured to know that Moxeza is approved for use in children as young as four months old. This provides further reassurance that the drug is probably safe for use while breastfeeding.

Talking With Your Healthcare Provider

You should discuss breastfeeding and Moxeza with your healthcare provider. Each woman's situation is different, and you and your healthcare provider understand your situation best. After considering what you want and expect, as well as your current health situation, the two of you can make a shared decision that is right for you.
