Even though most people tolerate Maxidex^® (dexamethasone ophthalmic suspension) well, it is not free of dangerous risks. Because this medication is not suitable for everyone, make sure you talk to your healthcare provider about the safety warnings with Maxidex that may apply to you.

For example, this prescription eye drop has the potential to cause increased pressure in the eyes, glaucoma, and cataracts. Also, you may not be able to take this product if you have a viral or fungal eye infection.

Other precautions and warnings with Maxidex apply to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as people who have certain allergies. It is also important to discuss potential problems that may occur if you are taking certain medications. Even though Maxidex is not likely to react with most medications, you may not be able to use it with other eye medications.
