Maxidex® (dexamethasone ophthalmic suspension) is a medication often prescribed for treating inflammation of the eye and eyelid caused by certain eye infections, injuries, or other problems. Although most people tolerate this eye drop well, it is possible to develop serious side effects while using Maxidex.
For example, contact your healthcare provider immediately if you experience vision loss while using Maxidex. Any problems with vision, including loss of peripheral vision, may be signs of glaucoma. Also, if you are using this eye drop and develop blurred vision, double vision, or problems with glare, it may be a sign of cataracts.
(For more information on vision loss with this drug, click Maxidex Side Effects. This article provides a more complete list of possible reactions, including other potentially serious problems with this eye drop that require immediate medical attention.)
