Eyes Home > Zimar

Were you looking for information about Zymar? Zimar is a common misspelling of Zymar.

Available by prescription only, Zymar® (gatifloxacin) is a drug used for the treatment of conjunctivitis ("pink eye") that is caused by bacteria. This medication is approved for use in adults and children who are at least a year old. At this time, it is only available in brand-name form.

Treatment typically lasts for one week, and the drops are usually applied between four and eight times a day. To help prevent the spread of infection, be sure to wash your hands well before and after using this drug. You can also prevent further infection by not allowing the tip of the applicator to touch any surfaces, including your fingers or eyes.

(Click Zymar for more information on this eye drop, including how it works, additional dosing guidelines, and more. You can also click any of the links in the box to the right for specific information.)
