Although most people do not experience problems after using unoprostone ophthalmic solution, side effects can still occur. Some of the potential problems include dry eyes, red eyes, and increased eyelash length. In most cases, reactions are minor; however, contact your healthcare provider immediately if you develop blurry vision, swelling around the eye, or eye pain.

An Introduction to Side Effects of Unoprostone Ophthalmic Solution

Just like any medicine, unoprostone ophthalmic solution (Rescula®) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.

Unoprostone Ophthalmic Solution Side Effects to Report

Some side effects of unoprostone ophthalmic solution are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
 
  • Changes in vision, including clouded, blurred, or decreased vision
  • Seeing "halos"
  • Redness, irritation, or swelling in or around the eye
  • Eye pain
  • Excessive tearing or discharge from the eye
  • Feeling like something is in the eye
  • Eye sensitivity to the light
  • Color blindness or problems seeing color
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
    • An unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Unexplained swelling of the mouth or throat
    • Wheezing
    • Difficulty breathing or swallowing.
