Eyes Home > Lutien

Were you looking for information about Lutein? Lutien is a common misspelling of lutein.

If you have certain eye-health problems, lutein may help treat or prevent several symptoms. For example, this substance acts as an antioxidant and a filter for blue light, helping to protect the eye tissues from sun damage. It may also be effective at preventing and perhaps treating macular degeneration, and for preventing severe cataracts.

Although lutein is a naturally occurring pigment, supplementation is not safe for everyone. Before using this product, talk to your healthcare provider about any warnings or precautions that may apply to you.

(Click Lutein to learn more about what it is used for, how it works, and what to know before taking this supplement. You can also click any of the links in the box to the right for specific information.)
