Does Lutein Work for Cancer?
There is some early research suggesting that lutein might be beneficial for preventing breast cancer and cervical cancer. However, there is not enough information to suggest that lutein really does work (or does not work) for these uses. Much more research is needed in this area.

Is Lutein Effective for Skin Health?
Lutein skin creams and serums have been wildly popular as ways to reverse skin aging, such as wrinkles. There is some evidence that such products may actually improve the appearance of wrinkles or other signs of skin aging.

Final Thoughts on the Effectiveness of Lutein

Lutein may be effective for several uses, but more research is needed before it can be recommended for most of them. Many people take the product thinking that it can't hurt (and it might help). Although supplementation is usually safe for most people, high doses can cause side effects, and it is a good idea to check with your healthcare provider before taking high-dose lutein supplementation.
