Eyes Home > Ciloxan for Eye Herpes

Available by prescription only, Ciloxan® (ciprofloxacin ophthalmic) is a medication used to treat certain bacterial eye infections in adults and children. It comes in the form of an eye ointment or liquid eye drops, and is typically used several times a day.

This eye medication is specifically approved to treat bacterial conjunctivitis (also known as "pink eye") and corneal ulcers. It will not treat viral eye infections, such as viral conjunctivitis or ocular (eye) herpes. Ciloxan works by interfering with a certain enzyme that bacteria need to grow and multiply.
