After your
LASIK surgery, you may have dry eyes. Although this should last only a few weeks to a few months, in some cases, it takes up to a year to improve. This tends to be more common in patients who had dry eye symptoms before surgery, even if it is only noticeable when using contact lenses. LASIK will not improve dry eye conditions in people who had them previously.
To relieve this, patients may have to use eye lubricating drops, wear sunglasses when out in the wind, use a humidifier at work or home, or, in severe cases, have plugs put into the tear ducts or take medication. Although it can take several months, your eyes should return to their normal condition.
