A perforated cornea is an extremely rare complication of LASIK. With the current techniques and equipment, it is even more rare. It is estimated to occur in less than 1 out 1000 patients. A perforation is a hole in the cornea that can vary in size. The treatment of a perforated cornea will depend on its size and location. Depending on the perforation, it is possible for severe visual loss to occur.
