Your eyes may feel more dry after the LASIK surgery. Although this should last only a few weeks to a few months, in some cases it takes up to a year to improve. This tends to be more common in patients who have dry eye symptoms before surgery, even if it is only noticeable when using contact lenses. To relieve this, patients may have to use eye lubricating drops, wear sunglasses when out in the wind, use a humidifier at work or home, or in severe cases, have plugs put into the tear ducts or take medication.
Although it can take several months, your eyes should return to their normal condition. LASIK will not improve dry eye conditions.
