Iquix Drug Interactions

Because it is an eye drop, drug interactions with Iquix are unlikely. Very little of the medicine is absorbed into the body where it could interfere with other medications. However, Iquix has not been studied with all other drugs and supplements, so make sure your healthcare provider has a complete list of all other products you take.

Does Iquix Interact With Other Drugs?

Iquix® (levofloxacin ophthalmic solution) is an antibiotic eye drop licensed to treat corneal ulcers. Based on information currently available, it appears that this product is unlikely to interact with other drugs.

Iquix is applied directly into the eye, and very little of the medication is expected to be absorbed into the body. Because only small amounts of the drug are found in the blood after normal use, Iquix will likely not interact with other medications.

Some other sources list several drugs that may interact with Iquix. However, this information is based on known drug interactions with levofloxacin in the tablet or intravenous form. These reactions are unlikely to be a problem with Iquix.

Although Iquix is not likely to interact with other drugs, you may need to separate its use from that of other eye drops. If you are using more than one eye drop medication, talk to your healthcare provider about the best way to use these medications together.

Final Thoughts

At this time, it seems unlikely that Iquix reacts with other medications, as very little of it is expected to be absorbed into the body. However, this does not necessarily mean that there really are no drug interactions with Iquix. This medication has not been studied with other products, and there may be interactions that have yet to be discovered.

It is a good idea to make sure your healthcare provider has a complete list of all your medications. Tell your healthcare providers about all the medicines you take, including prescription and nonprescription drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements, even if you believe they will not react with other medicines.
