Zymaxid Eye Drop Information
If you have conjunctivitis ("pink eye") that is caused by bacteria, your healthcare provider may prescribe the eye drop ZymaxidTM (gatifloxacin). This medication is classified as a "fluoroquinolone," which means it works by interfering with two enzymes critical to the reproduction of bacteria. It is applied anywhere from two to eight times a day for up to seven days.
Most people have no problems with this eye drop; however, prior to using Zymaxid, inform your healthcare provider about any other medical conditions you have and any other medications you are using -- especially other eye drops. The product is not expected to cause problems, but you may need to separate your Zymaxid dose from that of the other eye drops.
