Prolensa Medication Information

ProlensaTM (bromfenac ophthalmic solution) is available only by prescription and is used to reduce pain and inflammation due to cataract surgery. The medicine comes in the form of an eye drop. It is started the day before the surgery, and is used the day of the surgery and for 14 days following the surgery.

Prolensa eye drops are not appropriate for everyone. For example, you may not be able to use this medication safely if you have certain allergies. More information on the potential risks of using this drug should be discussed with your healthcare provider before you start using it.

Although most people tolerate this eye drop well, Prolensa can cause side effects, such as sensitivity to light and eye pain. If negative reactions do occur, they tend to be minor and easily treated.
