LASIK Vision Correction
Nearly everyone is familiar with LASIK, a surgery used to correct vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and amblyopia. It can be performed on one or both eyes, and the goal is to lessen and, in many cases, eliminate, your need for glasses or contact lenses. LASIK is one of the most commonly performed procedures in the world for vision correction.
During the surgery, a laser is used to permanently reshape your cornea and correct your vision. You are awake during the procedure. Afterward, you will stay at the facility for about an hour. You will then be able to go home to continue your recovery. Most people return to work and other activities within 24 to 48 hours of their LASIK surgery.
(Click LASIK for a more detailed look at this procedure, including the expected results and possible complications. You will also be given an overview of the eye and how it enables us to see.)
