Closed Caption - Cataract Surgery Risks -- Secondary Cataract

A secondary cataract, or clouding of the capsule behind the lens, can occur months or years after surgery and can slowly cause a decrease in vision. It is the most common of all the complications associated with cataract surgery and lens implantation. It can be easily treated with a laser procedure. After the laser procedure, your vision is restored to the level measured before the secondary cataract occurred.

If this procedure is necessary, your doctor will discuss the risks and benefits of the specific procedure at the appropriate time.
