Betoptic Drug Interactions

If you take Betoptic with medicines such as calcium channel blockers, epinephrine, or certain arrhythmia medications, interactions may occur. These drug interactions could increase your risk of developing dangerously slow heart rate, extremely low blood pressure, or other serious complications. In order to help prevent drug interactions with Betoptic, make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking.

Drug Interactions With Betoptic

Betoptic® (betaxolol hydrochloride) can potentially interact with several other medications, even though it is an eye drop (since some of the medication will be absorbed into the blood stream). Some of these medicines that may lead to interactions with Betoptic include:
 
  • Alpha blockers (or medications with alpha-blocking activity), including:

 

 

 

 

  • Certain arrhythmia medications, including:

 

    • Amiodarone (Cordarone®)
    • Disopyramide (Norpace®, Norpace CR®)
    • Lidocaine (Xylocaine®)
    • Propafenone (Rythmol®)
    • Quinidine
    • Sotalol (Betapace®)

 

 

 

  • Reserpine.
