Alphagan P Dosage
The standard dosage of Alphagan P for treating open-angle glaucoma or high eye pressure is one drop into the affected eye(s) three times daily. If this dose does not work well enough, your healthcare provider may need to add an additional eye medication. To prevent contamination of the drops, do not touch the tip of the dropper to any surface, including the surface of the eye.

There is only one standard dose of Alphagan® P (brimonidine tartrate), regardless of your age, weight, or the severity of your glaucoma or ocular hypertension (high eye pressure). As is always the case, do not adjust your Alphagan P dose unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.
The recommended Alphagan P dosage for treating glaucoma or high eye pressure is one drop in the affected eye(s) three times daily, with about eight hours between doses. It is generally not recommended to increase the amount beyond the standard recommended dose, even if your eye pressure remains high. If this dosage does not adequately lower the pressure in the eye, your healthcare provider may add another type of glaucoma medication.
There are two different strengths of Alphagan P (0.1% and 0.15%). They appear to be similar in terms of effectiveness.
Some considerations for people using Alphagan P include the following:
- If you use other eye drops in addition to Alphagan P, make sure to wait at least five minutes between using Alphagan P and the other eye medication.
- In order to prevent contamination of the drops, do not touch the tip of the dropper to any surface, including the surface of the eye or the skin.
- For the medication to work properly, it must be used as directed.
- If you are unsure about anything related to your dosage of Alphagan P, please talk with your healthcare provider, nurse, or pharmacist.
